Claudia Neu (born September 25, 1967 ) is a German nutritionist and sociologist. She taught as a “professor for general sociology , especially methods of empirical social and market research as well as nutritional sociology ” at the Ecotrophology Department at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Mönchengladbach . New is the spokesperson for the Land and Agricultural Sociology Section of the German Society for Sociology . Since September 2016 she has held the chair "Sociology of Rural Areas", half of which is located at the University of Göttingen and the University of Kassel (Witzenhausen location).

From 1987 to 1993 Neu Oecotrophologie studied at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , where she received her doctorate in 2004 on the subject of Cooperative Farmers in the East German Transformation Processes - Case Studies from Brandenburg . Before working in Mönchengladbach, she was a research assistant at the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forests and Fisheries in Braunschweig and a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology and Demography at the University of Rostock
