Sundance Film Festival / Best Director - Documentary

Winner of the directing award ( US Directing Award: Documentary ) for the best director of a US documentary (including co-productions) in the competition at the annual Sundance Film Festival .

The award has been presented since the 15th edition of the film festival in 1998. A five-member jury, which changes annually and consists mainly of US filmmakers, decides on the award. So far, no director has won the award more than once.
