Claudio Barrientos (born November 10, 1936 in Osorno , Chile , † May 7, 1982 ) was a Chilean boxer.
career
Barrientos took part as Chilean representative in bantamweight at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 and won a bronze medal. In the quarter-finals he beat the Brazilian Éder Jofre , but then lost in the semifinals to the South Korean Soon-Chun Song , who in turn lost to Wolfgang Behrendt in the final .
In 1959 he began a short and unsuccessful professional career in which he could only win three of eleven fights. On July 15, 1960 there was a rematch of the Olympic quarter-finals against Eder Jofre, Barrientos lost by knockout in the eighth round. In September 1960 he was defeated in a fight for the Chilean bantamweight championship.
