Claudius Blanc

Claudius Blanc (born March 20, 1854 in Lyon , † June 13, 1900 ibid) was a French composer .

Blanc studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with François Bazin and Jules Massenet . With Rebecca à la fontaine , a three-part lyric scene based on Pierre Barbier , he won the first Second Grand Prix de Rome in 1877 . Until 1881 he took part in the competition for the Prix de Rome every year in the hope of a first prize, but was unsuccessful.

Little is known about Blanc's later life. His Andante et scherzo was played at the Concerts Colonne in 1877 and he premiered the piece Orientale in 1885 .
