Claudius Fischbach

Claudius R. Fischbach (* 1960 in Gummersbach ) is a German diplomat . He has been Ambassador to Asunción (Paraguay) since July 2016 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Claudius Fischbach studied history, philosophy and English studies in Münster, Freiburg and Paris from 1979 to 1985 and then did his doctorate under Hans-Ulrich Thamer in Modern History on the subject of war and peace in the French Enlightenment until 1989 .

Fischbach has three grown sons.

career

Claudius Fischbach joined the Foreign Service in 1989 and, after completing his training, was a consultant in the Foreign Policy Department of the Federal President's Office from 1991 to 1992 . From 1992 to 1995 he was head of the culture and press department at the German Embassy in Tehran ( Iran ). He then worked in the Political Department of the Foreign Office in Berlin with pan-European political structures. In 1998 he was transferred to the German Embassy in Washington DC, USA , where he was initially deputy head of the press department and then an employee of the political department. Back at the Foreign Office in Berlin, Fischbach became Deputy Head of Export Controls Unit in the non-conventional area in 2002. From 2006 to 2009 he was Permanent Representative of the Ambassador in Rabat , Morocco . Then he was on the planning staff of the Foreign Office and became its deputy head in 2011.

In 2013, Fischbach was transferred as envoy to the embassy in Brasília and from there he went to Asunción ( Paraguay ) in July 2016.
