Claus-Jürgen Roepke

Claus-Jürgen Roepke (born January 23, 1937 in Berlin ) is a German Protestant clergyman.

Career

Roepke studied Protestant theology in Neuendettelsau, Heidelberg, Göttingen and Erlangen from 1957 to 1965. After a traineeship in the press and radio, he was pastor at the Stephanuskirche in Munich from 1967 to 1974 . In addition, he received a special order for Protestant journalism. In 1974 he moved to the media and public relations department of the EKD church chancellery in Hanover as senior church councilor . In 1980 he became director of the Evangelical Academy in Tutzing . From 1991 he was head of the ecumenical department in the regional church office of the Bavarian regional church (ELKB). From 1997 until his retirement in 2001 he was a member of the Council of the EKD, the Working Group of Christian Churches in Germany and the EKD Commission for the Dialogue with the Russian Orthodox Church. From 1995 to 2008 he was President of the Martin Luther Association .
