Claus Friedrich Holtmann (born July 30, 1949 in Krefeld ; † October 30, 2013 in Potsdam ) was a German bank manager . From January 1, 2007 to May 31, 2013, he was Executive President of the East German Savings Banks Association (OSV).

Life

Professional background

After graduating from high school, Holtmann completed his training as a savings bank clerk at Stadtsparkasse Krefeld. Holtmann then studied business administration in Münster. He graduated with a degree in business administration in 1976. After completing his studies, Holtmann continued his career in the German savings bank organization as an examination assistant for the Lower Saxony Savings Bank Association . In 1978 he passed his exams as an association auditor at the Deutsche Sparkassenakademie. Three years later he graduated as a tax advisor and in 1982 as an auditor. Within the Lower Saxony Savings Bank Association, he was promoted to Deputy Head of Examinations in 1984.

Worked for the East German Savings Bank Association

In 1990 Holtmann became head of the examination office of the East German Savings Banks and Giro Association (OSGV). He held this office for nine years before he was elected manager of the association in 1999. The association assembly of the OSGV elected him in 2006, at the same time as the decision to rename the OSGV to the East German Savings Bank Association (OSV), as managing president of the OSV. He took up this position on January 1, 2007.

As managing president, Holtmann was chairman of the supervisory board of LBS Ostdeutsche Landesbausparkasse AG and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Finanz Informatik , the central IT service provider of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. In addition, Holtmann was chairman of the supervisory board of the Informatikzentrum der Sparkassenorganisation GmbH (SIZ), a member of the economic advisory board of the Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt and chairman of the university council of the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau . In addition, Holtmann was chairman of the board of directors of Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung, the joint cultural foundation of all savings banks in the OSV association area. From February 1, 2007 to October 26, 2007, Holtmann was an official member of the administrative board of Landesbank Sachsen , which he had previously advised on the Saxon member savings banks since 2004. In this capacity he has been a permanent guest at the Board of Directors meetings since 2005.

Holtmann died of cancer on October 30, 2013.
