Claus J. Goldenstein (* before 1980 in Verden ) is a German lawyer .

Life

Goldenstein grew up in Verden as the son of a businessman. Between 1980 and 1987 he studied law in Germany and Italy . In 1992 he founded the law firm Goldenstein & Partner in Potsdam , which in 2010 had 80 employees and branches in Berlin , Hamburg and Poland .

Goldenstein has been the partnership officer for the state of Brandenburg since 2008 . In this role he is supposed to develop the economic relations between Poland and Brandenburg.

Claus Goldenstein became known to the press in connection with the VW emissions scandal . As part of the scandal, he represented his firm around 21,000 clients, including the purchaser of a manipulated VW - cars , whose case in May 2020 before the Federal Court has been negotiated. On May 25, 2020, the Federal Court of Justice found the claim for damages against Volkswagen AG with Goldenstein's client as justified. It was the first supreme court decision in the matter in Germany and thus a precedent . Numerous media worldwide reported on the verdict and Goldenstein's role in the proceedings.

Provocative advertising by the law firm from May 2020 was classified as possibly inadmissible.
