Claus Jönsson (born May 26, 1930 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ) is a German physicist .

In 1959, Jönsson was able to experimentally demonstrate the interference of electrons at the double slit for the first time as part of his dissertation with Gottfried Möllenstedt at the University of Tübingen .

The experiment is of central importance for understanding quantum mechanics and is also considered to be a pioneering work in nanotechnology . In a survey by the body of the English physical society " Physics World " in 2002 for the most beautiful experiment of all time, it came first.
