Claus Jürgen Hutterer

Claus Jürgen Hutterer (born November 2, 1930 in Budapest , Kingdom of Hungary ; † December 17, 1997 in Graz , Austria ) was a Hungarian German linguist .

Hutterer came from a Hungarian-German family. He studied from 1949 to 1953 at the University of Budapest and then until 1957 in Moscow a. a. with Viktor Schirmunski . In 1958 he received his doctorate in Budapest and was senior assistant at the university, where he completed his habilitation in 1968. In 1970 he became a full professor for German studies at the University of Budapest (until 1985) and in 1975 at the University of Graz .

His main focus was the dialectology of the Germanic languages, in particular the German language and Hungarian-German dialects and language island research .

In addition to his numerous publications on dialectology, his plan of the Germanic languages ​​and cultures, which has been published in several updated editions, is particularly well known.
