Claus Jacobi (born December 14, 1971 in Hagen ) is a German local politician ( SPD ). He has been the mayor of Gevelsberg since 2004 .

Life

Jacobi made on Gevelsberger school his High School and then studied law , which he mainly with administrative law employed.

In 1987 he joined the SPD and was directly elected to the city council in his constituency after the local elections in 1994 and 1999 . From 1999 to 2004 Jacobi led the SPD parliamentary group in the Gevelsberg city council. In a run-off election on October 10, 2004, he was elected mayor of Gevelsberg with 63 percent. In 2007 he opened the construction of the 400 meter long Engelbert tunnel under the southern town of Gevelsberg, planned by his predecessors and decided before his inauguration.

In the mayoral election on August 30, 2009, he was re-elected with 77.8 percent of the votes cast. In 2014 Jacobi received 88.0% of the votes and was re-confirmed in office.
