Claus Meyer (cook)

Claus Meyer Nielsen (born December 27, 1963 in Nykøbing Falster ) is a Danish television chef , restaurateur and co-founder of the Noma restaurant .

Career

Meyer went to France as an au pair for a year after graduating from high school ; he then studied at Copenhagen Business School until 1991 .

He became known to the wider public as a television chef when he ran the program Meyers Køkken (Meyers Küche) on DR1 from 1991 to 1999 . In 2007 he reappeared as a TV chef with the program Mad i Norden - Smag på Danmark (English. Taste of Denmark ). He is also involved in a large number of companies.

Alongside René Redzepi, Meyer is co-owner of the Copenhagen restaurant Noma , which has received three consecutive awards as the best restaurant in the world since 2010. He has published a number of cookbooks and contributed to the public debate on food quality through many lectures.

In September 2010 he was awarded the Danish Order of Merit Dannebrogorden .

Claus Meyer is married and has 3 children.
