Clear Island (from English clear , clear, unambiguous ; Spanish Isla Coy , synonymous with hammock island ) is a small, snow-covered island in the Wilhelm Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is the northernmost of the Wauwermans Islands and lies immediately north of Wednesday Island .
Her Spanish name is recorded on an Argentine map from 1950. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee renamed it in 1958. It is named after the fact that the island, apart from the southwest, can be identified from every direction as a unique landmark for shipping.
