The Cleft Point ( English for split point ) is a headland off the south coast of Coronation Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located on a previously unnamed island on the east bank of Norway Bight .
British Discovery Investigations scientists mapped the headland as part of Coronation Island in 1933. Measurements by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1950 showed that it is located on a small barrier island separated from Coronation Island by a narrow natural channel. The naming of the headland reflects its geographical location.
