Cleistocactus grossi is a species of plant in the genus Cleistocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Cleistocactus grossi grows as a shrub with crooked to upright, cylindrical shoots that are 2.5 to 3 centimeters in diameter. There are up to 17 notched ribs . The mostly 4 needle-like central spines are amber to light yellow. One of them is directed downwards or upwards. The 16 to 18 thin radial spines are white.

The red flowers are up to 5 centimeters long and reach a diameter of up to 1.6 centimeters. Your flower tube is straight, the bracts are somewhat funnel-shaped.

Distribution and systematics

Cleistocactus grossi is common in Paraguay . It was first described in 1957 by Curt Backeberg . Cleistocactus grossi is possibly a synonym of Cleistocactus baumannii subsp. santacruzensis .
