Cleithrum
The Cleithrum ( old Gr . Κλειθρον kleithrom , lock, bolt ') is a pair of cover bones in the shoulder girdle of non- amniotic and primitive amniotic vertebrates . All bony fish have a cleithrum, but cartilaginous fish are missing . In primeval bony fish like the sturgeon-like , the bonefish and the bald pike , it lies on the scapula , on the outside of the body. As the only recent land vertebrate , the frogs still have a cleithrum residue, which is located on the front edge of the cartilaginous suprascapula . All recent amniotes (reptiles, birds, mammals) are without Cleithrum.
