Clemens Grohe
Clemens Grohe (born January 31, 1829 in Neustadt ; † June 7, 1900 in Rhodt ) was a German businessman and politician.
Life and work
The merchant Clemens Grohe took part in the revolution of 1848/49 and fled to America after its suppression . Two years later he returned and moved to Ludwigshafen in 1852 . There he took over the agency of the Dutch, later the Cologne-Düsseldorfer Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft .
politics
From 1858 to 1868, from 1875 to 1879 and from 1885 to 1889 Grohe was a member of the city council of Ludwigshafen am Rhein. From 1875 to 1887 he was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies for the National Liberals .
