Clemens Kathke

Clemens A. Kathke (* 1938 in Bernburg an der Saale ; † May 7, 2008 in Paderborn ) was a German theologian.

Life

Clemens Kathke received in 1962 in Paderborn , the sacrament of Holy Orders . He was initially head of a curative education center for mentally and multiply disabled people in Warburg , in the East Westphalian district of Höxter. In 1981 he became spokesman for the board of the Josefs-Gesellschaft (JG-Gruppe) in Cologne , a Catholic institution for hospitals, retirement homes and facilities with around 6000 places for the disabled , and a member of the German Caritas Association . From 1995 to 1997 he was the diocesan pastor for the disabled in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

From 1997 to February 2008, Clemens Kathke was director and general secretary of the Bonifatiuswerk der Deutschen Katholiken, a diaspora aid organization. He played a major role in the structural reorientation of the relief organization, especially in the pastoral work for children and young people. He initiated numerous new foundations and revivals of monasteries of the Roman Catholic Church in the diaspora . At the same time he was secretary of the diaspora commissioner of the German Bishops' Conference . Since 2007 he has been a board member of the Catholic Press Association .

In 1999 he became Pope John Paul II. To the Pontifical honor prelates appointed.
