Clemens Wergin

Clemens Wergin (born February 11, 1969 in Munich ) is a German journalist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Winnenden , Wergin did community service in Nes Ammim and then studied Middle East history, Islamic studies and journalism at the University of Hamburg . Wergin is married and has two children.

Journalistic activity

After graduating in 1998, he started as a volunteer at Tagesspiegel . In 2003 he won an Arthur F. Burns Fellowship with whom he worked at the Chicago Tribune . In 2007 he moved to the world group , where he headed the international department until 2014. Wergin has been commenting on the New York Times since 2013 . Since 2014 Wergin heads the foreign office of the World in Washington, DC

He was awarded the 2003 George F. Kennan Prize for his comments .
