Clement Eyer Smoot (born April 7, 1884 in Highland Park , Illinois , † January 19, 1963 ) was an American golfer .
biography
Clement Smoot played golf at the Exmoor Country Club . At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , he was Olympic champion with the Western Golf Association in team competition . In the individual, however, he was eliminated in the first round against William Stickney .
A year later he took part in the US amateur , but was eliminated in the first round.
Smoot was a successful businessman. He founded the Smoot-Holman Electrical Company , which specialized in industrial lighting.
