Clementino dos Reis Amaral († March 8, 2020 in Dili , East Timor ) was an East Timorese politician. He used to be a Portuguese colonial administrator and an Indonesian politician. Amaral was from Viqueque .

Life

Amaral was the district administrator of Baucau in the Portuguese colonial times . After the annexation of East Timor by Indonesia (1976) he remained the deputy of Administrator ( Bupati ) Abel da Costa Belo . From 1985 to 1999 Amaral was a member of the Indonesian Parliament and a member of the Indonesian Commission on Human Rights (Komnas-HAM) for seven years.

The East Timorese monarchist party Klibur Oan Timor Asuwain (KOTA) led Amaral as the representative of the sick party leader Leão Pedro dos Reis Amaral until 2011. Here he was replaced by Pedro da Costa Ramalho .

In 1999 Amaral was appointed to the National Consultative Council (NCC). From 2000 he was a member of the National Council and from 2001 to 2007 a member of the parliament of East Timor . Here he was deputy chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security.
