Clepington Primary School
The Clepington Primary School , formerly Stobswell Public School , is a primary school in the Scottish town of Dundee in the same council area . In 1965 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
history
Construction of the school building began in 1906 and was completed the following year. William Gilliespie Lamond , who at the time worked for the city's building authorities under the direction of James H. Langlands, was responsible for the design . The school, which opened in 1907 as the Stobswell Public School , was initially considered a model school for students over 14 years of age. It focused on engineering and housekeeping and had appropriately equipped specialist rooms. The school was later attached as a primary school to the nearby Morgan Academy and is now called Clepington Primary School . Today around 500 students (as of 2018) attend the Clepington Primary School, which as a primary school offers grades one to seven.

Clepington Primary School is located on Eliza Street east of downtown Dundee about 300 m southwest of the Morgan Academy. The two to three-story building combines motifs from the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau . Its masonry consists of quarry stone that has been roughly hewn into irregular blocks . On the main facade, which is exposed to the east, the windows are coupled in quadruplets with stone window posts , which are simply crowned or embedded in an arched opening on the top floor . The school name and the year of construction are set in contemporary font in the gable. The gable closes with an ornamented segmented arched cornice . The receding flanking components close with octagonal domes. The other facades are of the same style, but designed more simply. The roofs are covered with slate.
