The Cleveland Golf Company, Inc. is an American company based in Huntington Beach , California . Cleveland develops and manufactures golf equipment such as golf clubs and other accessories. The company was founded in 1979 by Roger Cleveland.
history
As early as the 1960s, Roger Cleveland was handcrafting replicas of famous golf clubs. Even after the company was founded in 1979, Cleveland Golf remained a smaller manufacturer in the market. The logical consequence was the takeover by Rossignol in 1990 . The founder switched to the larger competitor Callaway , also based in California , as chief designer . Cleveland Golf remained under the old name as an independent subsidiary.
In 2005 Rossignol was taken over in turn. Cleveland Golf, together with the putter manufacturer Never Compromise, moved to the surf outfitter Quiksilver .
In October 2007, Quiksilver announced that it would sell to the Japanese company SRI Sports Limited for $ 132.5 million. Brands such as Dunlop and Srixon already belong to SRI (Sumitomo Rubber Industries) .

Cleveland is recognized as a leader in wedge manufacturing. The Cleveland Wedge 588 is considered to be the best-selling wedge of all.
