Climate Change Center Austria
The Climate Change Center Austria (CCCA for short) is an Austrian climate research network. It defines itself as the point of contact for research, politics, the media and the general public on all issues relating to climate research in Austria. The institution was founded on July 18, 2011 in Vienna and intends to promote a sustainable climate dialogue in science and research.
aims
The top priority of this scientific institution is to promote research on climate change , in particular the following points:
- Causes of climate change (physical, political, economic, cultural, social),
- Consequences of climate change for society, the economy and the environment,
- Strategies for climate protection (mitigation, German defusing),
- Adaptation to global warming (adaptation) as well as the
- Determination of vulnerabilities and the
- Identification of capacities .
The CCCA strives for high quality climate research in Austria that is anchored nationally and knows how to distinguish itself internationally. For this purpose, three operational facilities were created: the CCCA Coordination Office, the Service Center (CCCA Service Center) and the Data Center (CCCA Data Center).
In autumn 2019, the network presented an alternative climate plan, the Ref-NEKP , with which Austria should be able to comply with EU requirements.
Board
Internationally renowned researchers are represented on the board, such as Helga Kromp-Kolb and Johann Stötter . Traditionally, all of Austria's top research should be represented on the board.
