The Clinton House is a historic building in downtown the City of Ithaca in Tompkins County of the US state of New York . It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 12, 1971 , and was predominantly built in the neo-classical style that is common to older buildings in Ithaca. Today the building houses a small theater as well as a ticket sales point for many local cultural events. The building is adjacent to the Ithaca Commons .

The Clinton House was originally built between 1828–1829 as an upper-class hotel and the city's first office building. With 150 hotel rooms, it was very large for a city then with around 4,000 inhabitants. The building was named after DeWitt Clinton , who was governor of New York between 1817 and 1822 and again between 1824 and 1827. At least four US presidents stayed in the hotel, as well as numerous actors from Ithaca's brief heyday as a center for the Film industry .

The classicist architectural style was popular in North America between 1820 and 1860. The pillars at the front and the huge windows and doors are typical features of this style.

At present, the building houses numerous offices and an educational facility.
