The cemetery is south of Friedenstrasse, the postal address is Friedenstrasse 12/14. The cemetery has a size of 45,516 m² and is owned by the Protestant church.

history

The churchyard was established in 1884. It was intended as an extension of the village cemetery, which had existed since 1220 and was closed in 1903. The chapel was built between 1905 and 1906 in neo-Gothic style based on a design by Carl Roemert. In 1936 the churchyard was expanded to the west.

To the south of the chapel there is a war field of honor for those killed in the First World War . In the middle of the field of honor is a memorial erected in 1923 by Hermann Möller. After 1945 the dedication of the war field of honor was extended to the fallen soldiers of the Second World War .

Tombs

Listed tombs

The following graves and tombs are listed and are on the list of cultural monuments in Berlin-Mariendorf :

  • The Buchardt burial site was probably built after the death of Otto Burchardt's son, who died in 1898. The tomb wall has three axes and is made of Silesian sandstone . In the middle there is an aedicule with Ionic columns . The inscription tablets are made of black syenite .
  • The Lindhorst grave is designed in a similar way to the Buchardt grave. An aedicula forms the center of the three-axis tomb and is framed by Doric columns . There is also a white marble relief by Otto Petri, which was probably created in 1900.
  • The Hulke grave is a private war memorial for Willi Hulke, who died in 1915. The memorial consists of a sarcophagus- like central section and side wings, of which only the left has been preserved. A figure of Hermes stands on the pedestal at the end of this side wing .
  • The Maas burial site is the youngest representative wall grave in the cemetery. It was designed in memory of the Berlin brick Gothic. The wall is divided into two fields by three pillars. In each of the fields there are two black plates made of syenite with the inscriptions.
  • The Pohlmann grave site was erected as a neoclassical wall grave around 1914. An underground crypt belongs to the tomb .
  • The Weigelt grave was built in the 1920s in the Neo-Rococo style. The tomb is a stele and indicates the profession of landscape gardener.
