CoRoT-7 , formerly called CoRoT-Exo-7 , is a main sequence star in the constellation Unicorn with an apparent magnitude of 11.7 mag. With a spectral type of around K0 and a surface temperature of around 5300 Kelvin, it is similar to the sun .
The companions
The name of the star is derived from the planet CoRoT-7b, which was first discovered there. CoRoT-7b was discovered in January 2009 as the seventh exoplanet candidate with the help of the CoRoT space telescope, which is what gave it its name.
In September 2009, CoRoT- 7c (also written as “CoRoT-7c”) was discovered as the second planet in the system . This is probably a so-called super-earth , making this system the first system to be discovered with two earth-like planets .
