Coccinelle (company)

Coccinelle was an Italian fashion company. In 2006 the fashion group Mariella Burani acquired the majority of the company's shares and used Coccinelle as a fashion brand. Mariella Burani has been in liquidation since the end of February 2010.

Originally, Coccinelle was a leather goods manufacturer who mainly specialized in the production of handbags in the medium to high-priced segment. The range has been steadily expanded since it was founded, so that currently (as of 2011) accessories such as belts, gloves, hats, scarves, watches, wallets and calendars are also offered. In addition to its own products, Coccinelle also manufactures accessories under license from Miss Sixty . The company was founded in 1978 and its headquarters are in Sala Baganza ( Province of Parma ), from where production is controlled. The company name (company) means ladybug in Italian and the company logo shows such a stylized insect.

In the Mariella Burani Group, Coccinelle was an independent company belonging to the subsidiary Antichi Pellettieri , a stock corporation that was also listed on the stock exchange. Other well-known brands in the group were Mariella Burani, René Lezard and Baldinini .

In 2006 Coccinelle had a turnover of 52 million euros. According to the company, 35% of sales are generated outside of Italy.

Coccinelle products are sold in 67 monobrand and flagship stores . A German sales office is located in downtown Cologne. Furthermore, the products are sold to end users through 1,250 retailers worldwide. Sales and support for retailers is organized through 14 national agencies (showrooms).
