Brigitte Bastgen

Brigitte Bastgen (born March 14, 1955 in Trier ) is a German journalist and news anchor .

Life

Brigitte Bastgen grew up in Wittlich and studied education , philology , Romance languages and English .

She worked as a German and French teacher for ten years before applying for an internship at ZDF in the summer of 1987 . Sports director Dieter Kürten recognized her talent and brought her in front of the camera. Brigitte Bastgen spoke in the program sport am Sonntag , the sports news in the Sunday edition of the heute program (1988–1989) and moderated the tele-illustrated (1989–1990).

On August 30, 1990, Brigitte Bastgen spoke for the first time as studio editor of the reports in the main edition of heute-Nachrichten at 7:00 p.m. In 1998 she was replaced by Katrin Müller , who was nine years her junior , and has since presented the afternoon editions of the heute program . Bastgen sued in court against this transfer, but rejected several settlement offers from ZDF and ultimately lost the process.

In addition to her job as a news presenter, Bastgen also works as a freelance business journalist as well as a trainer for communication strategies and a coach for managerial responsibility in the European economy.
