The Codex Climaci Rescriptus ( Uncial 0250 after Gregory-Aland , before that Lectionary ℓ 1561 after Gregory) is a palimpsest with biblical and theological texts from the 6th to 7th centuries. Among the copies of two texts by Johannes Climacus in Syrian from the 9th century, the "Staircase to Paradise" and the "Liber ad Pastorem", a total of eight biblical manuscripts from the 6th to 8th centuries were discovered. Six of them contain texts from the Old and New Testaments in Christian-Palestinian- Aramaic , two texts from the New Testament in Greek . The manuscript consists of 146 parchment leaves.
Aramaic texts
104 sheets contain texts in Christian-Palestinian Aramaic , which was written in a separate variant of the Estrangela script . The sheets are 23 cm × 18.5 cm in size and usually have two columns of 18 lines each. They are dated to the 6th century.

history
Parts of the manuscript were discovered in Port Said in 1895 by twin sisters Agnes Smith Lewis and Margaret Dunlop Gibson . Another part was acquired in 1905 from a Berlin orientalist. All 137 sheets were sent to Westminster College , Cambridge . Another sheet is in the Mingana Collection in Birmingham. In 2009 the Westminster College part was put up for auction, after which it bought the Green Collection in Oklahoma . In the meantime, 8 new leaves appeared in the St. Catherine's Monastery.
