In 1215 the Codex was started by Prince-Bishop Friedrich von Wangen as a copy book Liber Sancti Vigilii with 225 documents ( Codex Wangianus minor ) and is now kept in the Archivio di Stato in Trento . A specialty of mining is the copy of the Trient Mining Law contained in the Codex from 1208, one of the oldest compilations of mining law rules of the later County of Tyrol, as well as other documents relating to the mining regulations of medieval mining.

Codex Maior

In 1344, on behalf of Bishop Nikolaus von Brünn from Trent, the original codex was copied and expanded by the notary Konrad Greusser from Kuttenberg , who expanded the original codex to 316 documents by 1389/90 ( Codex Wangianus maior ). This is now in the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck .
