Codrington was the capital of the island of Barbuda , which belongs to the island state of Antigua and Barbuda .

Codrington was founded in 1685. At the 2001 census, Codrington had 1,325 inhabitants, 93.5 percent of the island's 1,417 inhabitants. In 2017, the population was completely and permanently evacuated after a storm.

The place has a regional airport, from which there used to be daily flight connections to the main island of Antigua . There was also a ferry connection to Saint John's , the capital of the state.
