Cody James Bellinger (born July 13, 1995 in Scottsdale , Arizona ) is an American baseball player who is a first baseman and outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball . In the 2017 season he was named Rookie of the Year of the National League and in 2019 the Most Valuable Player of the National League .

Life

Bellinger's father, Clay Bellinger, played for the Anaheim Angels and the New York Yankees . His younger brother Cole was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2017 .

Career

Minor Leagues (2013 to 2017)

Bellinger was drafted in the fourth round by the LA Dodgers in 2013 and signed a professional contract with a signing bonus of $ 700,000 .

Los Angeles Dodgers (2017 to date)

On April 25, 2017, Bellinger played his first game with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was named National League Rookie of the Year in his first professional season .
