Coenonympha sunbecca is a butterfly ( butterfly ) from the family of the noble butterfly (Nymphalidae), which occurs in Central Asia.

description

In both sexes of Coenonympha sunbecca , the upper side of the wing is cloudy, milky white, the pattern on the underside shines through. This consists of a large number of white spots on a gray-green background, which cover the entire hind wings in the typical form and are greatly reduced in size and number in the form of alexandra Heyne from Turkestan .

Distribution and way of life

Coenonympha sunbecca occurs at considerable altitude on dry corridors in Ferghana , the Tian Shan and the Alatau and flies in June and July. Grigori Jefimowitsch Grum-Grschimailo gives in the Mémoires des Lépidoterès of 1890 for the Taldyk pass at 3,000 meters (9,000 feet), in the Tian Shan between 1,000 and 3,300 meters (10,000 feet) and on the Kisil-Art up to 4,200 meters (14,000 feet ) Height.

Systematics

Coenonympha sunbecca was first described by Eduard Friedrich Eversmann in 1843 in the Bulletin de la Société Impériale des Naturalistes de Moscou as Hipparchia sunbecca . The form alexandra was described by A. Heyne in Fritz Rühl's Die palaearktischen Grossschmetterlinge and their natural history from 1892.
