Coert Steynberg (born January 7, 1905 in Hennops River , Transvaal , † July 28, 1982 in Pretoria ) was a South African sculptor who worked with stone, marble, bronze, copper and wood.

Well-known works include a monument to Andries Pretorius in Graaff-Reinet , the monument to the Peace of Vereeniging in Vereeniging and the statue of Paul Kruger in the Kruger National Park .

He also designed the springbok motif , which can be seen on the 5 shilling silver coins (1947–1959), the 50 cent silver coins (1961–1964) and gold coins such as the Krugerrand .

In his later life, his works became more abstract. To do this, he experimented with materials such as paint, colored glass, wire mesh and ceramics.
