Coin Nord de Mitsamiouli is a football club founded in 1960 from the town of Mitsamiouli in the north of the island state of Comoros . The club, which was relegated to the Comorian second division at the end of the 2017 game year, is considered the Comorian record champion with at least seven championship titles.

history

Coin Nord de Mitsamiouli was founded in 1960 and from that time took part in the Comorian football operation, which was not yet regulated or organized. When the Comorian Premier League was created in 1979 and the Comoros also played their first, unofficial, international match in the same year, Coin Nord de Mitsamiouli started as one of the founding clubs in the Comoros' highest football league. At the end of the 1979/80 season, Coin Nord de Mitsamiouli was crowned the first official Comorian football champion. Hardly anything is known about the further results in the 1980s; Coin Nord is said to have become runner-up in 1983/84 and another championship title in 1985/86. Four cup titles from the early days of organized Comorian football have also survived. Coin Nord is listed as a cup winner by the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation in 1982, 1984/85, 1986/87 and 1988/89, among others.

The club were also Comorian champions in 1989/90. After the sources of information improved in the 1990s, there is more reliable evidence of the success of Coin Nord in Comorian football. The next championship title attributed to the club from Mitsamiouli comes from the 2000/01 season. Two years later, Coin Nord was runner-up before the club won the championship again in 2005. After the sixth known championship title in 2007, 2011 is considered a particularly successful year. In this, the team was able to celebrate the championship title once again and also won the Comorian Football Cup 2010/11. In addition, the Coin Nord de Mitsamiouli football club has appeared as the island champion of Grande Comore (Ngazidja) several times since it was founded . After an unsuccessful season, Coin Nord rose from the Comorian Premier League to the 2nd Comorian Football League at the end of the 2017 season as tenth of the season Ngazidja (Grande Comore) . In the previous season, the team only just managed to stay in the league.

Participation in the CAF Champions League

Coin Nord de Mitsamiouli took part in the CAF Champions League three times during its existence . In the CAF Champions League 2006 , the team was eliminated in the first round against the Mauritian club AS Port-Louis 2000 . In agreement with the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), only one game was played and a second leg was waived. In 2008 , Coin Nord again met a representative from Mauritius in the first round; in this case on the 2001 founded club Curepipe Starlight . After a 2-0 defeat in the first leg, Coin Nord de Mitsamiouli won the second leg 1-0, but could not qualify for the following round. In the first round of the CAF Champions League 2012 , the Comoros faced the Ethiopian Coffee football team from Ethiopia and won the first leg 1-0. In the second leg, Coin Nord was able to compensate for a 0-1 lead by the hosts before half-time and, due to the away goals rule, they were well on course for the second round. Ethiopian Coffee then scored again in the 75th, 80th and 88th minutes of the game, clearly winning the second leg 4-1 and preventing Coin Nord from advancing.
