Colin Brignall
Colin Brignall (* 1940 in Warwickshire , England ) is a British photographer, art director and type designer who designed numerous display fonts, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. Many of his writings have become very popular.
biography
Brignall initially worked as a press photographer, later as a fashion and advertising photographer. In 1964 he was hired as a photo technician by Letraset (today: Esselte Letraset) in London. During his work there he began to be interested in fonts and designed his first alphabets. From 1974 he worked as a type designer for Letraset, in 1980 he became Type Director of the company; later he also worked as a consultant for the International Typeface Corporation (ITC).
Awards
In 2000 he was - at the same time as Günter Gerhard Lange - winner of the TDC Medal of the Type Directors Club .
