Colin Ridgeway ( Colin Edwin Ridgeway, later Ridgway; born February 19, 1939 in Melbourne , † May 13, 1993 in Dallas ) was an Australian high jumper and American football player .

At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 he was seventh, and at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1958 he was eliminated from the qualification.

He set his personal best of 2,146 m on March 10, 1962 in Laredo .

In 1965 he was hired by the Dallas Cowboys as a punter , making him the first Australian in the National Football League .

He settled in the United States as a businessman and was murdered in his home at the age of 54. The crime has not yet been resolved.
