Collección Palau-Ribes

The Collección Palau-Ribes (also Fondo Palau-Ribes ) is a collection of over 2000 papyri from the 8th century BC. And the 10th century AD in Greek , Coptic , Demotic , Arabic , Hebrew , Syrian and Latin languages . It is located in the Archivo Histórico SJ de Cataluña in Barcelona .

The collection was built up since 1961 by José O'Callaghan for the papyrology seminar of the Theological Faculty of the University of Barcelona and was first located in the Centro Borja in nearby Sant Cugat del Vallès . The purchases were made possible financially by his brother-in-law José Palau-Ribes Casamitjana, whose name the collection was given. Since 1962 some papyri have been described in the journal Studia Papirologica .

In 1983 the Seminario de Papirologia was dissolved after the Theological Faculty was transferred to the Universidad de Cataluña. José O'Callaghan and some employees continued to look after the collection. After the death of José O'Callaghan in 2001, the collection was transferred to the Historical Archives of the Jesuits of Catalonia.
