Ardin is a French commune with 1,243 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ). The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Niort and in the canton of Autize-Égray (until 2015: canton of Coulonges-sur-l'Autize ). The inhabitants are called Ardinois .

location

Ardin is about 70 kilometers west-southwest of Poitiers and about 18 kilometers north-northwest of Niort . The municipality is crossed by the Autise river and its tributary Saumort runs along the eastern municipal boundary . Ardin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Chapelle-Thireuil and Puihardy in the north, Fenioux in the northeast, Béceleuf in the east, Faye-sur-Ardin in the southeast, Villiers-en-Plaine in the south, Saint-Pompain in the southwest, Coulonges-sur-l 'Autize in the west and Saint-Laurs in the northwest.

The former route nationale 744 (today's D744) runs through the municipality .
