Collective Soul is an American rock band . The Roland brothers' group of five comes from Stockbridge, Georgia .

Band history

The band had their breakthrough in 1994 with the song Shine . In the US it was awarded a gold record for over 500,000 units sold, and it was also a minor hit in Europe and Australia.

Apart from that, the success of Collective Soul was limited to North America. The debut album Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid went double-platinum in the USA, the album Collective Soul released a year later even triple-platinum. By the end of the 90s they had two more platinum albums, a gold album and several hits in the single charts. The band's musical spectrum ranges from calm rock ballads to radio-friendly grunge .

In the early 2000s, Blender and a best-of album were released, both of which rather disappointed, and then their contract with their label Atlantic ran out. A longer break followed, until they founded their own label after changing the second guitarist in 2004. Further publications followed, but only reached the bottom of the album charts. It wasn't until 2009 that they found a bigger label for their eighth studio album, Roadrunner Records . With the album, which, like their second album, bears the name Collective Soul , but is also called Rabbit because of the rabbit shown on the cover , they managed to return to the top 40.
