Colombstone

The Colombstein in the Pöhlau district north of Reinsdorf , today on the outskirts of Zwickau and on the course of an old trunk road, was erected on October 18, 1863 as a memorial to commemorate the courageous act of the Prussian captain Peter von Colomb . On May 29, 1813, by a moment of surprise, he had successfully attacked an overpowering French supply group and thereby captured a large number of them. Captured weapons and ammunition were rendered harmless. Napoleonic troops had used the road in 1812 as an advance and return route during their Russian campaign .

The small monument complex at the junction of the Freitagsstraße from the federal highway 173 between Zwickau and Mülsen St. Micheln was renovated in 2003 and an information board was added. The retiree Gerhard Keller from Mülsen St. Niclas had taken care of the maintenance for years and thus contributed significantly to the preservation of the property.
