The Colony Glacier is a glacier in the US state of Alaska . It is located in the Chugach National Forest 70 km east of Anchorage .
geography
The 25 km long and in the lower area 2.6 km wide glacier has several spring glaciers, whose nutrient areas lie at altitudes between 1800 m and 2100 m on the north flank of the southwestern Chugach Mountains . The glacier is flanked in the south and east by the peaks of Mount Muir , Mount Gilbert and Mount Gannett . The Lake George Glacier runs west of the Colony Glacier . To the south, Colony Glacier borders several smaller glaciers that flow down to Harriman Fjord and Barry Arm . The Knik Glacier runs east of the Colony Glacier . The Colony Glacier covers an area of about 150 km². It flows in a predominantly north-northwest direction and ends on the southeastern shore of Inner Lake George at a height of about 62 m .
