Interior

The Comanderkirche is in Chur on the Ringstrasse. It is one of three preaching places of the Reformed parish of Chur and of the territorially identical Colloquium IV Chur .

History and equipment

The church was consecrated in 1957 on the 400th anniversary of the death of Johannes Comander and named after him. It is the youngest Reformed church in the Graubünden canton capital. A plaque next to the entrance commemorates Johannes Comander.

High above the pulpit is the relief of a dove made by the sculptor Paul Bianchi , which traditionally embodies the Holy Spirit in the Christian symbolic language .

The simple interior of the church is laid out with a slight slope so that everything runs towards the communion table. The organ was built in 1957 by Metzler Orgelbau (Dietikon).

Comander house

Attached to the Comanderkirche is the Comanderhaus , in which important ecclesiastical and regional events take place. This is also where the extraordinary meetings and workshops of the Graubünden Synod are held. As a result, the Comanderkirche, although one of the youngest ecclesiastical buildings, has de facto become a reformed main church in the canton.
