history
The company was founded in 1948 and initially manufactured X-ray tubes for medical purposes. In 1965 Comet diversified into vacuum rotary capacitors for broadcast applications. In 1990 it entered the dosimetry business . In 1996 the company went public. In 2002 Comet withdrew from medical X-ray technology and has since concentrated on industrial X-ray technology. In 2005, the company sold its dosimetry business unit and has since concentrated on the two core areas of X-ray and vacuum technology. In 2007 Comet took over the German YXLON International GmbH. In 2012 Comet took over the German Stolberg HF-Technik AG and thus expanded its portfolio to include high-frequency power generators.
Products
The group of companies consisting of the Comet Group and the Yxlon Group , which was taken over in 2007, develops, produces and sells systems and components for non-destructive material testing , security , radiation sterilization and semiconductors .
While Comet mainly produces high-tech components and modules , Yxlon offers complete system solutions including software and service. These are used in the fields of automotive, aerospace, pipeline construction and electronics as well as security at airports and borders.
Comet also develops and produces special components and modules in the field of vacuum capacitors for systems in semiconductor production for end products such as memory chips , flat screens and solar panels . In addition, vacuum capacitors are used in radio transmitters for frequency stabilization.
