The Schaffner Group , based in Luterbach, is an internationally active Swiss group of companies in the field of electromagnetic compatibility and voltage quality . It employed 3,891 people (September 30, 2018) and generated sales of around 222 million Swiss francs in the 2017/18 financial year. The company is listed on the Swiss stock exchange SIX Swiss Exchange listed .
Field of activity
Schaffner develops and produces various standard and customer-specific components and modules , which are supplied to international manufacturers and system integrators of electrical and electronic devices. These include EMC filters , harmonic filters / harmonic filters, transformers , chokes and automotive solutions for keyless locking systems, electronic immobilizers, tire pressure monitoring systems and hybrid drives.
history
The company was founded in 1962 by Hans Schaffner, a specialist in the field of electromagnetic compatibility. Initially, heat sinks, electronic relays and flow measuring devices for petrol stations were produced .
In 1975 Schaffner expanded to France with the establishment of a subsidiary, to Germany in 1978 and to the USA in 1981. In 1981 Hans Schaffner sold his company to Elektrowatt AG in Zurich. International expansion continued in the 1990s.
In 1996 the company was taken over by management and financial investors with a buy-out , and in 1998 it went public with an IPO . In the years that followed, Schaffner made various takeovers abroad.
