Comprehensive Pneumology Center
The Comprehensive Pneumology Center (CPC) is a translational center for lung research in Munich .
structure
The CPC is located on the campus of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich Großhadern and is an amalgamation of the Helmholtz Center Munich , the LMU , the Munich University Hospital and the Asklepios Specialist Clinics Munich-Gauting. The CPC is also one of five DZL (German Center for Lung Research) locations that belong to the DZG (German Centers for Health Research) initiated by the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
On July 12, 2010, Federal Research Minister Annette Schavan and Bavarian Science Minister Wolfgang Heubisch opened the Lung Research Center.
The CPC has the first lung research clinic in Munich.
The CPC is headed by a scientific director Oliver Eickelberg and a clinical director Jürgen Behr .
In 2011, the Comprehensive Pneumology Center was recognized as one of 365 locations in the Land of Ideas (2006–2012) as part of the Germany - Land of Ideas competition.
mission
The goals of the CPC are to find and develop new approaches in the early detection, diagnosis and therapy of chronic lung diseases. In order to be able to transfer current experimentally gained knowledge of basic research into medical practice, the CPC pursues a translational approach.
