Compton's Most Wanted is a hip-hop band that was formed as a gangsta rap crew in Compton in 1987 . It consists of the musicians MC Eiht , Tha Chill MC, DJ Slip and DJ Mike T. Boombam, Lil 'Hawk' N 'Bird and Eiht's brother Da Foe joined them later. From 2006 onwards, Big 2 Da Boy, Mr. Criminal and Stomper will also be there.
Career
In 1990 Compton's Most Wanted released their debut album It's a Compton Thang , which, like their third album, was produced by Westcoast pioneer Unknown DJ. The 2nd album Straight Checkn 'Em was only recorded by MC Eiht and DJ Slip . This band had a huge impact on the hip hop scene. Many later hits like It Was a Good Day from Ice Cube , Warning from Notorious BIG and Sugar Hill from AZ were based on samples the band had used before. Even the German rapper Kool Savas admitted that he sounded a bit like Eiht in the past. To this day, Tha Chill has been jailed again and again. He produced many beats from the newer MC Eiht albums, the latest CMW album and his own LP Tha Windchill Factor in Delano . At the moment he seems to be out again as the home studio produced So Gangsta Mixtape was released in June 2006.
Compton's Most Wanted is currently one of the most active rap crews. The releases of the members amount to 7 albums in 2006 alone, including Spice 1 from East Bay and Brotha Lynch Hung from Sacramento . CMW started with NWA gangsta rap in 1987 and have stayed true to themselves and their style over the years.
