Compulsion Games Inc. is a Canadian video game development studio based in Montréal , Québec . The studio founded by Guillaume Provost, a former developer of Arkane Studios , developed the platformer Contrast and the horror game We Happy Few . Compulsion Games has been a subsidiary of Microsoft since June 2018 .

history

Compulsion Games was founded in Montréal in 2009 by Guillaume Provost, who previously worked for Arkane Studios. The studio worked on outside projects including Darksiders , Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale, and Arthur Christmas: Elf Run to raise cash for their first game.

On June 10, 2018, during E3 2018, it was announced that Compulsion Games had been acquired by Microsoft and is now part of Microsoft Studios (now known as Xbox Game Studios ). At the time of the takeover, Compulsion Games had 40 employees.
