Confédération paysanne
The Confédération paysanne (also known as the conf ) is a French farmers' union . She is a member of the European Farmers' Coordination (CPE) and Via Campesina .
The Confédération paysanne was founded in 1987. It emerged from the union of two smaller trade unions, the Fédération nationale des syndicats paysans (FNSP) and the Confédération nationale des syndicats de travailleurs paysans (CNSTP). In 2001 it received 28% of the vote in the Chamber of Agriculture elections, making it the second largest agricultural union in France; in the 2007 elections it was again the second strongest with 19.6%. It is in all French departments and overseas departments active.
The Confédération Paysanne fights for a small-scale, to the concerns of environmental protection kümmernde agriculture , for the rights of employees working in this sector and for the quality of the products. Together with the international alliance Via Campesina , she organizes the Souveraineté alimentaire campaign , which was presented to the Food and Agriculture Organization during the Food Summit in 1996 and which called for food sovereignty , i.e. H. the self-determination of states in the field of food and agriculture (as a counter-position to the current policy of the World Trade Organization ).
Your publicity actions against the WTO in August 1999 and against the use of genetically modified organisms in agriculture and the scandals surrounding dioxin in chicken and BSE in the livestock farming could increase their popularity in France.
